چکیده
BackgroundFew healthcare-associated infection (HAI) studies focus on risk of HAI at the point admission. Understanding this will enable planning and management care with prevention heart patient journey from admission.AimTo determine intrinsic characteristics patients hospital admission extrinsic events, during two years preceding admission, that increase developing HAI.MethodsAn incidence survey adults within hospitals in NHS Scotland was undertaken for one year 2018/19 as part Evaluation Cost Nosocomial Infection (ECONI) study. The primary outcome measure any using recognized case definitions. cohort derived routine episode data linkage to community dispensed prescribing data.FindingsThe factors present observed being most significant acquisition were: treated a teaching hospital, increasing age, comorbidities cancer, cardiovascular disease, chronic renal failure diabetes; emergency Relative increased intensive unit, high-dependency surgical specialties, surgery <30 days before total length stay >30 admission.ConclusionTargeting maximizes potential prevention, especially when are known managed. This study proposes new approach control (IPC), identifying those greatest particular type who might be candidates personalized IPC interventions. Few To HAI. An data. Targeting

Prevention of healthcare‐associated Clostridium difficile infection: what works?
Prevention of Clostridium difficile infection has become extremely important because of increases in its incidence and severity. Unfortunately, efforts at C. difficile infection prevention are hampered by lack of data to support optimal prevention methods, especially for endemic C. difficile infection. Studies are needed to define the optimal prevention practices and to investigate novel preven...
متن کاملRole of hand hygiene in healthcare-associated infection prevention.
Healthcare workers' hands are the most common vehicle for the transmission of healthcare-associated pathogens from patient to patient and within the healthcare environment. Hand hygiene is the leading measure for preventing the spread of antimicrobial resistance and reducing healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs), but healthcare worker compliance with optimal practices remains low in most set...
متن کاملStrengthening infection prevention and control and systematic surveillance of healthcare associated infections in India
A ntimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the spread of multidrug resistant bacteria is a global patient safety problem and a major public health concern. In India, as elsewhere in South East Asia, many interlinked factors—including overuse of antibiotics, limited clinical diagnostic and laboratory capacity, and poor infection control, hygiene, and sanitation—have contributed to the emergence and spr...
